Brackish water from surface or ground water sources typically has total dissolved solids of 5,000 mg/L or less. Depending on the constituents in the water it can be treated with brackish water reverse osmosis (BWRO) membranes or lower pressure nanofiltration (NF) membranes. System recoveries will range from 65 percent to 90 percent, depending on the characteristics and quantity of dissolved ions in the raw water source.
