When conventional pre-treatment filtration is not sufficient, the use of a microfiltration (MF)/ ultrafiltration (UF) system is a solution to remove turbidity, viruses and bacteria from a feed water source. MF/UF provides excellent pretreatment for seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) and high turbidity brackish reverse osmosis (BWRO) systems. MF/UF systems can directly produce potable water with 4 log virus removal and less than 0.10 NTU of turbidity.
Doosan Hydro Technology provides MF/UF systems that utilize hollow fiber membranes to produce filtrate water at very low pressures and high flux rates. These systems are extremely efficient with only a few percent loss of recovery due to periodic backwashing and flushing.
